Cycling has always been about connecting for me.
It’s been an incredibly positive influence on my wellbeing throughout life, but equally it’s been a great filter for connecting with genuine, loving and generous friendships. Something I put a lot of value in.
I’ve also enjoyed it as a way to appreciate where I live; whether it’s joining neighboring areas in my mind through cycling them, or taking trips into the local countryside to recharge.
I’m not, and will never be, a professional cyclist. It pushes you physically, but it’s never been about being the best of the best for me. The trend towards hyper-performance, the latest tech, and saving micrograms of weight, seems a little ridiculous.
I want to preach about riding as a reason to hang out with good people; to connect with the world around you; to get fit in the process, and to feel good whilst doing it.
